The 2023 Board of Directors and Administrative Positions

A Word From the President

Welcome to our website!

Please check our calendar to verify when the museum will be open.

We never know what the weather will be, or if the virus will mutate and attack us again. If the virus numbers go up, we will close. Our volunteers are valuable to the organization, and our average age is over 75.

You are welcome to stop by during one of our Open House events that fall on the third Saturday of every month. Open House is from 10am to 2pm.

You are also welcome to contact us for a private tour at any time via email at RTHSCourier@aol.com or by calling the museum phone at 614-902-2831. If you are visiting from out-of-town, we would love to see you.

Reunion Coordinators! We will gladly schedule an alumni walk-through the weekend of your reunion!

In December, we are open for Christmas-on-the-Town on the first Saturday of the month from 11am to 4pm. We are also open on the third Saturday of December for our regular Open House from 10am to 2pm.

Check out the Newsletter tab and Calendar on our website to see the current activities. In 2023, we will start to plan for a variety of classes which could possibly include: Calligraphy Classes, Chalkboard Sign-Painting Classes, and much more. We will post a calendar outside by our front and back doors once we start to have activities.

The museum is located in Old Reynoldsburg across the street from the Hannah J. Ashton School. See our outside Barn Window Displays, and Bennett’s Garage Window Displays that are available to view 24/7. We have a large collection of Western Electric/Lucent Technology artifacts on the inside of our barn, and much more! The museum covers three levels. You will enjoy taking a walk back in time. Bring the family! All ages are welcome!

Would you like me to speak to your organization? You can pick from the following list of subjects I have already covered, or let me know what subject you would like me to cover, and I will gladly come and do a presentation for you:

  • Reynoldsburg-Truro Historical Society – Overview & history of the organization; including what RTHS is doing to help the children of this community learn about their heritage

  • Moving Houses – A presentation about seven houses in historic Reynoldsburg that were moved. Six were moved with a single horse, and one with a tractor

  • The McNaghten Collection – One of the largest genealogy collections (over 300 binders) amassed by a single person in Franklin County, and possibly the State of Ohio!

  • Reynoldsburg and Truro Township – The president co-authored a new book with Cornelia M. Parkinson. It was published in February of 2022 through Arcadia Publishers, and is about 124 pages of pictures and captions about the history of Reynoldsburg

  • From Homeroom to Homicide – Our President graduated from Reynoldsburg High School in 1970 with a serial killer who was executed for his crimes by the State of Ohio in 2004

  • The Underground Railroad in Reynoldsburg – Many of the residents in Reynoldsburg played a significant role in the Underground Railroad. This presentation introduces you to the people who settled here, and some who participated. It also explains why they were such passionate abolitionists

  • Paper Sculpture Step-by-Step – Before joining the society, our President created 3D paper sculptures, and was invited to show her work at three separate gallery exhibits. She will bring samples and show you how it is done!
